General information

01  Faculty: All faculty members have graduate degrees, most of them at the Ph.D. level. They have wide range experience in teaching, research and consulting.                                                                                                  

02  Quality of Programs: The Department's programs respond to the current needs of the world industry by training professionals that can help improve information management and technological development. 

03  Business Association: Through its collaboration with governmental and non governmental entities as wells as networks and other academic and scientific institutions both local and international, the Department contributes to the development of ICTs in particular and in general to the overall development of the country.  This collaboration is carried out through research and consulting projects.

04  High-level Research: DISC organizes its research activities through three research groups: COMIT, ICTSw and IMAGINE, which are recognized by Colciencias. These groups promote the development of projects that generate knowledge and impact at a national and an international level, in areas such as information engineering, software construction, formal methods, visual computing, security, communications and organizational computing.

05  Infrastructure: The academic programs, as well as the research and consulting projects, are supported by state of the art infrastructure technology: a Datacenter, general purpose laboratories and research laboratories, such as: Enterprise Architecture, Connectivity and Communications Networks, Computer Forensics, Mobile Computing, Engineering Information (Codex) and Visual Computing (Colivrí).

06  International excellence: According to QS World University Rankings [1], Universidad de los Andes holds first place nationally, 7th in Latin America, and it is in the 200s, in Engineering,  worldwide [2]. The Engineering undergraduate program has the ABET international accreditation. Our graduates have been recognized for their high performance in tests like ECAES [3] (Saber Pro).
