Charla
Pan-genomes for dummies: a few plant examples and other applications
Descripción de la Charla
A pan-genome can be defined as the union of all the genomes of individuals of a species. They were first studied in bacteria, mostly to analyse the ecological and pathogenic properties of strains, and then exported to other divisions. In the case of plants, our knowledge of pan-genomes is still very limited. In this talk I will review recent results of both monocot and dicot species and crops. Although it is clear these analyses are useful to explore germplasm diversity, further work is needed to evaluate how important accessory genes are for adaptation and breeding.
